What is Public Document?
Public Document is defined under S.74 of the Indian Evidence Act .
The following documents are Public Documents:
1) Documents forming the Acts, or records of the acts -
a) of the sovereign authority
b) of official bodies and tribunals
c) of public officers , legislative, judicial and executive , of any part of India or of the Commonwealth or of a foreign country.
2) Public records kept [in any State] pf private documents.
What is public Document Search?
Public Documents are available for the General purpose for information about a property or act of public authority. But getting certified copies of such documents involves a lot of time and effort, such as, approaching the public authority who is custodian of a document in a proper form, which will consume lot of time and expenses also. The procedure is cumbersome for a layman to understand.
